The little dog has a working class background- certainly a doggie “rags to riches” story!

The custom in breeding Yorkies is still to raise them in kitchens of working class homes in Great Britain which strikes me as very charming indeed. This also gives the puppies a very good start in life, being surrounded by love and warmth. The other good thing about this early home life is that the Yorkies get used to the hustle and bustle of a busy household which is a survival skill for one so small. In other words, it gives them an opportunity to learn how to look after themselves.

They are undoubtedly glamorous little dogs, but are still possessed of spirit and have an adventurous nature, both qualities which hearken back to their inauspicious beginnings. I find that so interesting, because of all the wealthy people I’ve met in my day, the ones I’ve gotten along with the best have been those who grew up in modest surroundings and worked hard to achieve their success. I realize this may be a stretch from that to the personality of a dog, but that’s how I look at it!

I like my gold Yorkshire terrier charm, and do hope it can eventually find a place on the charm bracelet of someone you love!
