Description:
There is a lot to love about this little black dog. (I realize they aren’t always black, but since I don’t even know if I’ve seen any in any of the other colors, I just think of them as being black.) They are dogs of strong character and much independent spirit, extremely loving towards their master, and they pretty much know what is right and what should be done under any situation, or at least that’s the way it looks to them.
In 1883 a breed standard was developed for the Scottie. The Scottish terrier today has all the vitality of its ancestors with an even more pleasing appearance. That sounds like the perfect blend.
Physically the Scottie is short but sturdy. It weighs about 20 pounds, and is 10 to 11 inches high. Their body is short, but the chest is broad. The back is supposed to be level. There are several color variations, among them black, iron grey, wheaten, grizzled, sandy or brindle. There may be more, but I believe those are the main ones. The coat itself is wiry and quite long and thick. It probably gets pretty cool out there on the Scottish Highlands!
I think this gold Scottie is a cute rendition of a marvelous dog!
