Description:
These dogs are heavy boned and powerful. They have ears that are either the half rose type or can be cropped into little triangles. I, and most of the customers of mine that I asked, preferred the uncropped ears. To me, dogs with their ears cropped just look a little scary, I’m not sure why!
This could be considered to be an American breed, as this is where the final breed standard was created. Its cousin, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier has some common ancestry with the pit bull. Both of the breeds can claim bulldog and terrier -cross ancestry. Both of them have very strong cheek muscles.
The American Staffordshire is about 18 to 19 inches tall, whereas the English cousin is only 14 to 16 inches tall. The pit bull can weigh up to 50 pounds to the Staffordshire bull terrier’s 38 pounds at its heaviest.
The pit bull was originally bred for fighting, and this was its main occupation for 150 years. By 1900 dog fighting was outlawed, but it continued quietly on the sly for quite a while longer. Now pit bulls are considered to be pets, and most of their breed are indeed gentle dogs. Except for the reputation of a few bad eggs, probably made that way by inhumane and irresponsible owners, pit bulls can be good family pets.
My gold pit bull charm is dedicated to those owners who take good care of their dogs!
I have many other 14K gold dog charms gifts available. Gold standard poodle charm anyone?
