Description: It’s possible that the husky has been pulling sleds and herding reindeer for about 3,000 years. Wow. They are pretty specialized. It almost seems cruel to keep them from their chosen profession. Like a fish out of water here in Florida, they would be. (I do see them here occasionally.) I think they must wonder where all the ice and snow went. We’ll just have to break it to them that it never was. Because the environment they come from is so isolated, they are quite pure still. The breed just didn’t have the opportunity of cavorting with the mixed breed hussy down town. Nothing but lots of snow, lots of Inuit, reindeer and other huskies. That probably kept things pretty pure. Now, of course the Siberian husky has been imported to other countries and is quite a popular dog in Canada and the United states. Sled racing in Alaska has become quite popular, and even down here in Florida we hear about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. That has become one of the most exciting sports of the cold country, and many people have begun to pay attention to it.
