Description: I’m not a Border collie owner myself, but being involved with people’s dogs even at the level of an animal jewelry artist I’ve been made familiar with the many fine qualities of the breed. They are masters of herding. They are quiet, they can crouch and creep just up to the point where a sudden spring into motion is required and they do it just at the right moment! They remind me of a cat in this regard, more than a dog. And they obey the shepherd implicitly by means of his hand signals. It’s a kind of doggy ballet! Border collies have been described as workaholics. My kind of animal! I appreciate anyone, human or otherwise who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty just to get the job done on time. Isn’t that what life is all about, working hard so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor? The other thing I like about this dog is its beauty. I never thought about it till now, but possibly part of the beauty of the breed, besides its lovely white ruff and facial markings is the intensity of that gaze. It’s kind of a “bring it on” look that I admire in anyone, human or canine. A gold border collie charm is certainly not too much to ask when wondering how you can honor this magnificent canine! |
