Gold bug charms-I think that even the insects among us should have the opportunity to have their little leggy likenesses be created in gold!
And why not? They are actually closer to the size of my jewelry than any other thing I make, you know? In fact, everything else I make have to be scaled down to the approximate size of a bug, now what do you think about that? This is certainly something to ponder.
Of course my butterfly charm would be pretty small were it an actual butterfly, don’t you know. But I seem to get an image of tiny purple butterflies swarming through a field of wildflowers from the environment I grew up in southwestern Ohio. We certainly had bugs galore there, both day and night. I miss those endearing lightening bugs, as we called them in Cincinnati. I think in other parts of the country they’re referred to as fireflies.
The only night time bugs I see here in Florida are those (to me, anyway) nasty palmetto bugs the size of small mice sneakily dashing across a tile floor at night. No, this is not a testament to my lousy housekeeping, which is up for debate, but to the fact that they can squeeze into even the most glorious of Southern Mansions. The only thing that keeps them away is the poisons that people use, which I deliberately eschew. Perhaps my sweet charms of cats in gold could help?
