Description: It may be that the way penguins locate their underwater prey is with some penguin version of echolocation. I would love to hear the sounds they make to bounce off the fish they’re chasing. Crafty little guys! Some penguins subsist solely on fish while others eat crustaceans and squid. Emperor penguins (the one my daughter used to make her drawing that this design was based on) lay their eggs in the fall. But many others breed in spring or summer. Some have longer breeding seasons than others and in a couple of species (the Galapagos and Jackass penguins) they have two main breeding periods. They lay their eggs anytime of the year. Male penguins come ashore and get their territories established before their partner (an established or a new mate) comes to the nest site. Among yellow-eyed penguins, a pretty significant number of couples stay together for close to 13 years! Maybe some of us humans could take a hint. However, not all species fare so well in the faithfulness department. Most penguins lay two eggs, the exceptions being the one egg laying Emperor and King penguins. 14k gold avian charms are a fun way to collect those things that may have a special meaning for you.
