If I could show you this dachshund pin in person, you’d see the sharp and lovely contrast between the glossy black and the coppery red highlights. It seems to me a bit is lost in the photograph, because the actual dachshund pin has a distinct and beautiful look that I attribute to its two tone nature. This pin has been hand painted over lead free pewter in a tedious but very worth while process by my good friends in New England. Artisans are my kind of people! Each one of the dachshund pins will have a look distinctive to it alone. That, to me is the beauty of hand work. The machine will never be able to recreate the care and attention that the human eye and soul is capable of, as far as I’m concerned.
