Description:
Any cat lover would enjoy this little cat pendant, with her matching glass beads strung on a pretty black rubber cord. Like all my painted enamel jewelry, the calico cat is unique, each one to the next. When the work is done by hand, there are charming little differences in each piece.
Of course I’m a fan of hand work. I just don’t think you get the same feeling from a machine- made piece of jewelry. And how in the world would a machine paint a calico cat necklace, anyway?
My calico is the typical, brightly colored variety. There is one that has much more subtle markings, called a Blue Tortie and White. This is also a very pretty cat, but the colors are quite a bit softer than the regular calico.
I have never had a calico cat myself, but I had a friend who had one and said she had a very sweet kitty personality. I don’t know if it was the breed or just this particular cat.
My web designer has a calico that is completely a “one person” cat, and she was not too pleased when my husband and I showed up at her St Petersburg apartment recently. She was kind of crotchety, as a matter or fact!
One of these days I’ll make a tortoiseshell cat necklace, but for now, the enamel calico cat necklace is the only offering I have in this family of breeds!
