About Our Enamel Bird Necklaces

The possibilities waiting to happen in my enamel bird necklace collection feels like Christmas Eve to me! I love creating enamel necklace designs, and to have the opportunity to design them with so many different colors is just a treat. I am even making enamel insect necklaces now. Of course, typical of me, I always bite off more than I can chew, even in my imagination. But I figure eventually I’ll get around to making all the bird necklaces I can stand, from African grey parrot necklaces to who knows what other kind of pet bird necklace. (More wild bird necklaces would be nice, too.) Someday I’ll just have to lock myself in a well lit box and just “go to town” designing enamel bird necklaces, earrings and maybe some enamel bird pins as well. When I’m away from my studio as I am at the moment, it always seems like it’d be so easy to find time for new designs. However, life seems to interfere. And other aspects of The Magic Zoo keep me busy as well. Not that I’m complaining, mind you. But my favorite part of being an animal and bird jewelry designer is, strangely enough, the designing part. Perhaps it’s just the possibilities there. How many types of beautiful, unusual and clever birds are there in the world? Choosing which ones to make into bird jewelry is difficult enough! It’s a bit like throwing a dart at a list. I tend to design the enamel bird necklaces that have some immediate relationship to my life first, in one way or another. And then again, I look at what bird jewelry is requested most often.
