About Our Rhinoceros Jewelry
Rhinoceros jewelry was a bit challenging to create, especially since I decided to depict the whole body, not just the head. That’s why the earrings are a bit on the large side!

Rhinoceroses are native to Africa and tropical Asia. This is a very old order of mammals. In fact, the Woolly rhinoceros survived up to the last Ice Age, just 15,000 years ago. A drop in the geological time bucket. There are still five species of Rhinoceroses. The one I depict here is closer to the black rhino body type than any of the others.

Rhinos don’t have the best eyesight, and can’t see a person not moving at a distance of more than 100 feet!  Because of the placement of their eyes, they have to look at things in front of them one eye at a time. But they have an excellent sense of hearing. Their ears can swivel to pick up even quiet sounds around them.

Rhinos are herbivores. Pretty tough customers being vegetarian!  And they need to eat a lot of food to support such a tremendous size. They are also dependent upon bodies of water and have to drink daily. When their environment is really dry, they can survive up to 5 days without water. And, as you know, they can run pretty fast when they really want to.

My favorite rhinoceros jewelry design is the larger pin pendant combination.
