<animal-jewelry-small-pet-jewelry>Some may ask "what exactly is small pet jewelry?" The immediate and simple answer is that no, this is not jewelry for your guinea pig, ferret or rabbit to wear. Indeed, it is jewelry designed for the aficionado of said small animal. To be precise- you!
Small furry animals are what I’m speaking about here. Not little cats or dogs, but rodents, ferrets and lagomorphs! (rabbits) I’d seen my share of jewelry representing larger animals, and thought it was high time that a guinea pig pendant joined the ranks. Lots of people out there have small pets these days and they want to support their animals, too. Here come a few interesting rodent facts for your entertainment! Did you know that there are one thousand seven hundred and seventy five rodent species? There are so many of them that they occupy just about every ecological niche on the planet. They seem to flourish wherever they set up housekeeping, being highly adaptable and prolific. So I suppose it makes sense to keep them as pets. We should be able to get some joy from them –it seems only fair! And I’ve been told that they do make lovely pets. My only experience was a hamster, and I will testify that he was a lovely little guy. If you need a pair of mouse or rat earrings, a guinea pig charm, or a bunny lapel pin, you’ve certainly come to the right place!</animal-jewelry-small-pet-jewelry> <sterling-silver-jewelry-charms-small-pet-jewelry>Put several of these sterling silver small pet charms on one bracelet for ultimate cuteness! Since they’re all on the small side, they work together as a set. I don’t really know if someone who has one small mammal as a pet tends to have others as well. I would think (but what do I know!) that a variety of small pets (guinea pig, rabbit, mouse) might get along OK together. Some of you probably have a few of the animals shown in my silver wildlife charm collection. I know that you can keep a lot of different kinds of fish in one tank, within reason. And what about an aviary? Now there you can really go to town! (Again, within reason, of course.) Enough speculation. I certainly think a person could enjoy several kinds of cute soft furry animals without having a single one as a pet. Take me for instance. I love them just for being, and don’t feel the necessity to have one in my home at all! Not that I would mind, given the time to take care of it. We are so busy that I’m afraid the poor thing would be neglected so I have to content myself with creating my sterling silver charm designs. Little cottontails seem to be in ample supply around our neighborhood these days. Bunnies and rabbits seem to be ever popular as a theme in silver animal jewelry and I have a couple of silver charms depicting them. I wonder what sterling silver small pets charm I’ve neglected to include (besides gerbils, sugar gliders and hamsters, of course.)</sterling-silver-jewelry-charms-small-pet-jewelry> <sterling-silver-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry>Ah, how cute to dangle a sterling silver small pet earring from your ear! There is really something fabulously appealing about those small and furry pets we keep. Innocent and trusting creatures who love to play, they would probably play all day if they didn’t need to eat so often. I don’t suppose this would count as a pet, but once when I was exhibiting at an art show in San Jose, California, another artist came up to me with a tiny baby squirrel in her hand. She had contacted a squirrel rescue group of some sort to come and get this little one who had managed to fall from his nest unharmed. I’d never seen a squirrel that tiny and I hope he made it! If I had the time I imagine I’d have all sorts of pets about the place. I bet my grand daughter would appreciate a playful ferret or guinea pig. She has a tabby cat at her house so I don’t imagine a small pet would be too welcome there. I remember when gerbils were the popular small pet to have, but I don’t hear too much about them anymore. Somewhere along the way I picked up the information that they were native to the desert somewhere in Africa. That seems like quite a transition to make; African desert to suburban Illinois! My silver earring gifts currently include quite a number of small animal species! People who enjoy these often like to see my silver bird earring designs, also.</sterling-silver-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry> <sterling-silver-jewelry-pendants-small-pet-jewelry>I would imagine a sterling silver small pet pendant to be an unexpected sort of accessory. One doesn’t normally find a sterling silver chain with a ferret around someone’s neck! (Though I do have a large collection of wildlife pendants in silver.) I found that to be one of the most joyous things about creating jewelry for my company. Being an artist is really all about dreaming up an idea then having it appear in the physical universe. It seems to me that all of us have that capability, and with a bit of practice most everyone could create works of art, be they delicious brownies, poetry, stories told to a grandchild or sculptures or something like a silver pendant page. Small animal pets and hence pet jewelry seem to be growing in popularity. I often meet people with a little pet animal aboard when they are out in a park or beach. (They are probably in the mall too just hiding away in a pocket or such.) It is worth all the research and designing when a customer comes up to me with a grin and says “You make chinchillas!” (or mice, guinea pigs, ferrets, etc.) I really listen when my customers tell me they have a hard time finding a particular animal and try to fill that need. If you have several small animals as pets, I hope I have represented at least one of them for you here. If you don’t see it or if there is an “up and coming” popular small pet you’d like to see me make, drop me an email!</sterling-silver-jewelry-pendants-small-pet-jewelry> <sterling-silver-jewelry-pin-pendants-small-pet-jewelry>I have designed a nice little handful of sterling silver pet pin pendants. There are more I created as small pet pins or pendants only- it takes a special size and shape to be able to be a pin pendant combination! The only small pet I ever had was a hamster, Hannibal by name, who lived in a cage in the basement when I was a child. His accommodations notwithstanding, he had a fairly cheerful life. We all loved him. In the springtime we took him into the yard to eat clover, which he stuffed into his little pouches for snacking on later. I’m not sure how we ended up with a hamster in the basement- Hannibal was the only one we had. He survived for five years after which we had a funeral for him and buried him under the four-o-clock flowers in the side yard. I’ve heard it said that guinea pigs make marvelous pets for children as they are supposed to be fairly easy to take care of and are quite gentle. Their voices are a wonder to experience as well. It is somewhat difficult to create a piece which is a pin and a pendant. I do have some wild animal pin pendants in sterling silver and some sterling silver pin pendant gifts And it is possible more will arrive on the scene later on!</sterling-silver-jewelry-pin-pendants-small-pet-jewelry> <sterling-silver-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry>I’d be so happy wearing a sterling silver small pet pin, were that my favorite little furry friend! I tried to cover most of the popular small pets in my jewelry designing and you can find other critters on my silver pins page. Last week my husband and I on our morning walk discovered a very brave wild brown cottontail sniffing around in the front yard of a fancy condo near Clearwater bay. I don’t know if he was brave, deaf or just missing a few survival skills, but he was completely undisturbed by our interest. Could it be that it’s been a few years since rabbits were shot on sight in the town of Clearwater and the current generation just doesn’t bother to hide? I think rabbits are really great survivors mostly by virtue of their procreative ability. And I don’t imagine they have many natural enemies in the Bay Area. For other (bigger) wildlife designs, visit my sterling wildlife pins page. Sometimes I forget to realize that someone might wear a sterling silver small pet pin just because they admire the design itself! I think it’s easy to make assumptions about the interests of the wearer. One of my favorite designs is the bunny pin pendant, and I love wearing it despite the absence of rabbits in my life.</sterling-silver-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry> <gold-jewelry-charms-small-pet-jewelry>If I could create a gold small pet charm for every possible small pet, I would probably be kept busy for a good while. Some people have thought of my guinea pig design as being a hamster. I suppose it could pass for one. But since I spent some of my childhood with a hamster as a pet I really should design one in and of itself. What is it that makes these little fellows so charming? Maybe they resemble stuffed animals, the size you might put in the top of a Christmas stocking for a child. They are, by their nature, quite whimsical looking and like their companions at gold charms home they really look wonderful. For some larger animals try the page of gold wild animal charms. If I didn’t already have two different rabbit designs, I’d probably get busy and make a lop- eared version as well. Rabbits are quite adorable, and I think they make better pets than they do wild animals. That is unless you’re talking about putting them on their own planet where they can breed to their heart’s content! I have to admit they have the surviving through your children thing down pretty well. Many of my customers have several pets, and the small pet variety like guinea pigs or rabbits are just a little extra attraction. But there are real ferret, guinea pig, rat, etc. fans in the world and these little gold small pet charms are for you.</gold-jewelry-charms-small-pet-jewelry> <gold-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry>There really is nothing quite like wearing a pair of gold small pet earrings! I make all the original designsfor my Magic Zoo gold earrings, and really work quite hard to give all of them a personality that seems to grow on you the more you wear them. Take the guinea pig gold dangly earrings, for instance. That little face still makes me smile. And it’s not that I think I was so clever with the expression or anything like that. It just so reminds me of a guinea pig face! My goldsmith used to tell me that she laughed every time she had a finished order of guinea pigs to send to me. If you look at a guinea pig head on, you will see that very face looking back at you. It is so easy to make good animal jewelry when the models are so cooperative. (Well, the photos of the models. I don’t think working from a live small mammal would be too productive.) Another one I really enjoyed creating was the chinchilla, a beautiful little rodent that my customers were requesting pretty often. They must be popular as pets now. I have a lot of fun designing my jewelry, but the ones in the gold small pet earring group were a challenge unto themselves. Working small and working detailed- that is one of the best combinations I’ve found for an animal artist such as myself. I found this to be true working on a series of gold wild animal earrings as well.</gold-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry> <gold-jewelry-pendants-small-pet-jewelry>I have created a smattering of the ever growing gold small pet pendants. What I mean is that there seem to be more small pets every year. A few years ago I’d never heard of people keeping small marsupial sugar gliders as pets. Now there are websites devoted to sugar glider aficionados. And I understand that for a while prairie dogs were being kept as pets. I don’t know if that’s still the case. There are a lot of small mammals in the world, and I imagine a certain number of them make acceptable pets (the rest are very likely to be found in the Magic Zoo's gold animal pendants collection). I do know that in other countries mongooses are sometimes domesticated, possibly to protect the family against poisonous snakes. For the most part small pet mammals earn their keep just by being cute, not warding off poisonous snakes. I don’t think this counts, but a number of years ago I was living in an apartment complex where one of the tenants kept a raccoon as a pet! This raccoon was fat and destructive, the largest raccoon I have ever seen and never should have been thought of as something to domesticate. However, the fellow who had him was quite fond of him. I’ll probably stick to making small gold pet pendants of the small pets that are more acceptably kept as pets. But like I said, that list does seem to keep growing as more critters cross over from my wildlife gold pendant page to this one!</gold-jewelry-pendants-small-pet-jewelry> <gold-jewelry-pin-pendants-small-pet-jewelry>Have you ever seen a gold pin pendant of a small pet? Perhaps I should explain the intricacies of a pin pendant design. Basically, it’s a piece of jewelry that can be worn either as a pendant with a chain threaded through a loop in the back of the design, or as a pin. (There is, of course a pin on the back of the piece as well.) I figured there were very few, if any, artists designing jewelry for people who loved the smallest of small furry pets. You know- the ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas and others. It’s interesting, because my little guinea pig jewelry has become fairly popular, so I think people have been looking for something to represent these cute little pets. I like to create gold jewelry that is representative of the small pet in question, but with enough leeway that I can add a bit of fun and personality to the design. I would be bored and don’t even think I have the capability to design something considered to be completely “serious” art. I have no way of knowing if you’ve been searching high and low for a gold small pet pin pendant, or if my site just happened to catch your eye. I will tell you that I take the quality of my work very seriously, and definitely want my customers to be extremely happy with the gold jewelry they purchase from me. While you're here take a moment to visit wildlife gold pin pendants and the 14k gold pin pendant gift section.</gold-jewelry-pin-pendants-small-pet-jewelry>
<gold-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry>How different, how unusual, how fun to wear a gold guinea pig on your collar! I like the idea of 14k gold pin gifts being something other than the requisite elephant, dog or cat. (However, of course I do make those as well) But I believe the “little folk” who have a place in our hearts should be represented. And since not a heck of a lot of artists are bothering with them, I decided to step up to the plate! Plus they are just so cute and fun to make jewelry of and compliment the designs found as gold wildlife pins. Not all of them are really small pets. I think rabbits can be as least as large as a good sized cat. Referring to them as small pets is just an easy way to differentiate between the more common pets and these guys. I think it’s pretty interesting how rats have become a popular pet lately. I know they have gotten a bad rap because of all the obvious historical reasons. But it’s also true that they must be pretty smart cookies to be such great survivors in the first place, and that that trait would translate into good petness as well. I should add that there are some small gold pet pin pendants that can suffice as just pins if you don’t see the one you are looking for in this part of my web store.</gold-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry> <pewter-jewelry-lapel-pins-tie-tacks-small-pet-jewelry>Pewter small pet lapel pins and tie tacks are just right, I think. The other day I wore one of the bunny lapel pin/tie tacks and was “accosted” by someone admiring it. I don’t just make this jewelry, I field test it! When they ask me where I got it, it’s fun to say “I made it”. There’s something about wearing lapel pins in pewter that tickles my funny bone, maybe because no one’s expecting to see me wearing it. Of course, the same thing would apply to you, so why not try it! For some reason, I enjoy the round shape of these guys as well. It just seems more appealing. I’ve even seen people wearing pet jewelry and having the honored pet right there in their pocket. When you think about it, small mammals are all around us, and only some of them make it to the status of “pets”. Why is that? How come people don’t keep squirrels as pets? (I know there are a few, but not that many live their lives in cages, which is probably just as well.) What if marmots or woodchucks suddenly became the latest rage. It is possible there is a good reason why they aren’t. Some of these may show up someday in the pewter wild animal section. Yes, a ferret may someday join the ranks of the pewter small pet lapel pins or tie tacks. I’ve certainly had my share of queries about such a possibility, so I will entertain it.</pewter-jewelry-lapel-pins-tie-tacks-small-pet-jewelry><enamel-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry>Fun, furry enamel small pet pins. What could be better? Perhaps I should clarify- these pins are not really furry, but they do represent the furry among us. And the furry little critters are so cute they really deserve to have some pins designed in their honor. I have many pins in enamel and a start at wildlife enamel pins. The secret is that even when you don’t particularly relish taking care of a rabbit or a guinea pig, the enamel small pet pins are so fetching that you might want to wear them anyway!</enamel-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry><enamel-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry>These enamel small pet earrings are a category I’m very happy to present! So many people live in apartments these days and prefer the companionship and ease of care that furry little mammals allow. So at last I’ve been able to create some earrings so you can show off your favorite small pet. Granted, they aren’t all in enamel yet, but time marches on and I create more and more. See my enamel earring section with things like unique wild animal enamel earrings. These enamel small pet earrings would be perfect to give as a gift to a small pet owner, or to wear yourself, of course! And I’d like to mention that you don’t have to have a small pet to enjoy these earrings.</enamel-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry><enamel-jewelry-necklaces-small-pet-jewelry>Somehow the enamel small pet necklaces are so appropriate. When you think of cuddly cute pets, the idea of holding them close to your heart comes to mind. Wearing them as a necklace is the next best thing! Most of us had a small pet as a child. In our family we had a hamster. I think the guinea pig has replaced the hamster as the rodent pet of choice, and you have to admit the hamster is pretty darned cute. I have several different enamel small pet necklaces here. I hope you find one or two that suits your fancy! I've also started an enamel wild animal section to go along with all the other designs at the enamel necklaces home</enamel-jewelry-necklaces-small-pet-jewelry><enamel-jewelry-post-earrings-small-pet-jewelry>It’s fun to have a pair of enamel small pet post earrings to wear, just for the cuteness factor! Watch this section for more coming your way as time goes on.
There are so many small mammals that people keep as pets these days, from exotic marsupials to the common rat. It seems most animals have an appeal to someone, and this is a good thing. The important thing is that the pets are loved and well cared for whatever their outward forms. Enamel small pet post earrings show off, in miniature, the little warm furry ones that you hold dear. Feel free to explore my enamel post earrings page and its section of insect enamel post earrings.</enamel-jewelry-post-earrings-small-pet-jewelry><pewter-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry>You’ll enjoy wearing or giving these pewter small pet earrings. The selection will grow with time, but the current inhabitants of this section are so cute you can start with them!
There’s something homey about pewter jewelry. It’s been popular for many years, and since mine is lead-free, you can enjoy it without worry. There are lots of different designs, so have fun with looking around at pewter earrings home - I have just started a section for some pewter wild animal earrings. The detail seems to sparkle in these pewter small pet earrings, from adorable cuddly guinea pigs to the more sophisticated but equally charming rabbits. Have fun collecting all of my pewter jewelry!</pewter-jewelry-earrings-small-pet-jewelry><pewter-jewelry-necklaces-small-pet-jewelry>The pewter small pet necklaces were all designed with the small pet lover in mind. It is a bit exotic to keep something other than a dog or cat in your house, after all! You should have your own jewelry to show off that special critter with necklaces in pewter designs. Each pewter small pet necklace will arrive on a pretty black rubber cord with a couple of glass beads. These are very pretty, and chances are you’ll want to collect more than one design. Lead-free pewter is wonderful for jewelry, and the look is very organic and pretty. If there are other small pet pendants you’d like to see, drop me an email and I’ll consider it for future designs! I'll be adding more wild animal pewter necklaces, too.</pewter-jewelry-necklaces-small-pet-jewelry><pewter-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry>Each pewter small pet pin seems to have a character unique to it. Of course they were all designed by the same artist, so the “flavor” might be similar, but they are distinctive. One of the things especially wonderful about these pewter pins designs is the amount of detail in each. You can see every bit of fur and even the whiskers in every design. (See the wild animal pewter pin section.) I think most people are attracted by that feature. Are you a small pet owner? (Meaning, in this case, a small mammal owner.) If so, I think you’d enjoy being the owner of these pewter small pets as well!</pewter-jewelry-pins-small-pet-jewelry><pewter-jewelry-post-earrings-small-pet-jewelry>A selection of pewter small pet post earrings is just at its inception! But as you can see, I have started the design process and now all I need is more time! Rest assured there will be additional items here in the future. At least that’s my intention! If you have a yearning for a pair of stud earrings in pewter and you want something that isn’t terribly expensive but is still very nicely done, (whew!) I can assure you that my small pet stud earrings will please. Of course I have a lot of other small post earrings, like the feline pewter post earrings, have fun searching through them. But keep this section in your sites, and check back at the pewter post small pet post earrings sometime in the next few months!</pewter-jewelry-post-earrings-small-pet-jewelry> |
