| Detailed and textured horned toad jewelry; a real challenge to create! Of course, horned toads are not really toads at all. They are lizards, which are, of course, reptiles. Despite their rather unconventional defense mechanism, (dissuading would-be predators by shooting blood from their eyes) horned toads are declining in number. Some of my Texas customers have told me that when they were children the little horned lizards were all over the place. And now? They say it is hard to spot them. I have never seen one in the wild, but I think they are very appealing little critters, and I hope they are able to make a comeback. |
