Cow jewelry, now that’s the kind of gift true romances are made from! (You have to imagine what I’m imagining, a young man down on one knee, holding a cow pin in his hand with a very earnest look on his face, looking up into the (surprised) face of his beloved…)
Anyway, for someone who likes cows, farm jewelry or just fun and funky jewelry- these bovines could be just the ticket. Perhaps not as a substitute for an engagement ring, though.
Here’s a little cattle lore: The word cattle itself comes from the Latin word for “head” which means property. The words “capital” and “chattel” come from the same source. There are no real wild cattle-by definition cattle are domesticated!
I have a couple different breed of cattle. One is the more common one that would be a black and white cow or maybe a brown cow, if it were in color instead of metal. The other one, the Highland cow, comes from Scotland. I love the way this one looks- with the strawberry blond shaggy fur and long horns in real life. I can almost imagine them as being wild animals, even though they, too, are domesticated. I suspect there is a Longhorn cow design coming up in the future.
Cow jewelry is mostly available as earrings, pendants and charms. The Scottish Highland cow comes only as a pin pendant at the moment. |
