About Our Chicken Jewelry

Chicken jewelry sounds a bit like a joke, but I’ve made chicken designs in one form or another for about 20 years! So there are definitely chicken lovers out there creating a market for my little poultry earrings and pendants. And why not? Chickens have served mankind very well for thousands of years. This is one of my favorites in the farm animal jewelry line. Chickens are also very pretty birds, one must admit. Descended from the Jungle fowl, they have a proud heritage and come in a multitude of colors and styles. I still find the little red hen very pretty, but some chickens are very fancy with not only gorgeous coloring but elegant, long flowing feathers. Another good one is the black and white speckled chicken. I’ve been told by chicken breeders and veterinarians that treat chickens that they do indeed have personalities. I believe it, since I was once the proud caretaker of a small flock of three chickens in, of all places, Oakland, California! We were renting a home there in the mid 1980s from a friend who had chickens in the back yard. They were cute and laid some fantastic brown eggs. I’ve never had eggs as good since. My children enjoyed having a flock in the backyard and probably didn’t think twice about the strangeness of it. I think my chicken jewelry looks a bit like they’re doing a little jig! Not serious art, that’s for sure
