Farm Animal Jewelry – Pigs, Cows, and More
Whether or not we come from a rural background, farm animals impact most of us in one way or another. I have lived the country life from time to time, and had some hands-on inspiration through my rural neighbors for my chicken charms, pig pendants and turkey earrings. I love designing animal jewelry that isn’t often seen, and if you or your children are involved in raising goats or pigs, perhaps my designs will give you a smile. 4-H Club members might like a little sheep or goat charm! The title farm animal jewelry covers a lot of ground. I put some animals in this section that could’ve gone elsewhere, but I thought most people would recognize them with this all-inclusive title. For instance, chickens are birds as well as poultry; and donkeys are in the equine group but I decided since they aren’t horses to put them here, where hopefully they will be found. This is especially important, because they are so darned cute!
A few years ago (like 25!) cows were all the rage, and that’s when I designed my very first cow jewelry. Maybe it was the cartoonist, Gary Larsen that popularized the cow as a kind of icon. But the interesting thing is that cow jewelry still seems to be popular. Maybe it’s just inertia.
And how about that pig jewelry? One of my favorite Magic Zoo designs is the dinky little pig pendant and earrings. They (actually me) said it couldn’t be done. What I’m talking about is making little bitty pigs- an impossibility, I thought. But I managed to scale that mountain and look for even more! (The reason I thought it wasn’t possible to make them so small is that it took me days to make the medium sized pendant the size that it is, and the very thought of working even smaller practically made my hands cramp.)
So here we have pig jewelry, goat jewelry and sheep jewelry! Farm animal jewelry designs are great for the professional farmer, hobby farmer, veterinarian or 4-H club member. And, of course, anyone who collects cow, chicken, goat, sheep or pig jewelry will have fun exploring this section.
