| About Our Scottie Jewelry |
| Scottie jewelry has been popular for many years; it was fun to create my own version of this charismatic little dog breed. The Scottish terrier as we now know it was developed in about 1890. But the first “version” of this dog was developed in Scotland in 1700, probably from various terrier breed stock including the Westie and the Dandie Dinmont. It was called the Aberdeen from its place of origin. Like a lot of other little terriers, it “made a living” hunting foxes and weasel in their burrows. They have what sounds like a marvelous personality- lively, proud, independent and smart. I imagine a human would be more of a companion to a little guy like this, rather than an “owner”. From what I’ve read they are a real “one person” dog, and remain devoted only to their chosen master. They don’t appreciate being disciplined with harsh words, but do need to be well trained. The puppies are born in a litter consisting of three to five. The ears are “down” at first, but prick up by the eighth week. Sometimes they remain bent until the permanent teeth are in. I wonder what the relationship could be between the permanent teeth and the pricked up ears? I have quite a few possibilities to choose from in my Scottie jewelry line, including 3 different pendant sizes! Happy hunting. |
