I designed my dog cat combination jewelry for obvious reasons. A lot of people love dogs as well as cats. Probably lots of people! I myself never went along with the trite idea that dogs and cats had to be mortal enemies. It seems like in their original state they probably had a little competition for food and habitat, but as long as pet animals don’t have to hunt for their food and are treated equally, it doesn’t seem like there would be much of a problem.
The dog in my jewelry is sort of a caricature of a golden retriever, and the cat is well, just a cat. I picked a golden retriever type dog for their famously gentle nature.
I once had an old cat book from the 1950s that had photographs of dogs and cats in loving proximity to each other. What I liked about the photos is that the dogs and cats all had matching coats! I want to remind you youngsters that this was way before photo shop, so the photos were not monkeyed with. Anyway, I found them charming in a hokey sort of way.
I grew up with a tabby cat named Pif and a Dalmation named Cid that at least tolerated each other. I guess it’s common knowledge that if you want your animals to get along well that you have to adopt them both as juveniles.
If you are one of the many dog cat combination pet owners then perhaps you’ll enjoy my dog cat combination jewelry. Makes sense to me. |
