| About Our Corgi Jewelry |
| I enjoyed the anatomical and historical research that led to my Corgi jewelry. I learned that the Welsh corgi most likely comes from the same ancestor as the German basset. Traces of the corgi (what “traces” exactly means, I’m not sure) were found in Celtic civilization. Perhaps they found the image of a corgi on an old pot shard? It would be nice if a little elaboration was offered! There are of course, two varieties of corgi. The one I’ve represented in the pin is the Pembroke, with almost no tail. Except for the pin, my intention was really to represent both types of corgi in one design. I’m sure true corgi lovers would scoff at that concept, but we artists do the best we can. I’ve met a corgi or two in my day, including one my nephew Chip once had. Extremely cute and very hardheaded was my impression of his little dog. My sister, Chip’s mom, eventually took Brian the Corgi in tow when Chip was stationed in Hawaii for a few years. Holly gave him a bit of doggie discipline that he was lacking. I think both dogs and kids need to have both freedoms and barriers, and it is confusing to only have freedoms. Some of my veterinary customers have told me that corgis do tend to be somewhat stubborn little dogs, so I think Chip’s experience wasn’t all that unusual. These dogs impress me as being real characters, a quality I attempted incorporate into my corgi jewelry designs. |
