My boxer jewelry was designed in response to many a customer request for a Magic Zoo creation of the breed. When I was getting ready to create this design, I asked my customers the important question: Ears up or down? Most of them thought the ears should be done like an unclipped boxer, so that’s how I made most of the designs. But you will find one piece of boxer jewelry with the clipped ears. I try to keep everyone happy.
Here’s something interesting- there’s a dog that closely resembles a boxer in a seventeenth century Flemish tapestry. But no such dog existed at that time! Maybe the artist was looking into the future or sadly maybe he just wasn’t that good and was trying to represent some other breed.
Along about 1850 the first boxer appeared. It was a cross between the Bullenbeisser mastiff and the bulldog. Both of these dogs were used in some pretty rough and tumble sports (bear hunting and bull fighting respectively). However, the breeders were smart enough to figure out how to eliminate the ferocity of the boxer’s parentage. In 1896 the boxer was “perfected”. Now the only dangerous thing I’ve observed about the breed is a profusion of affectionate drooling.
You can enjoy wearing my boxer jewelry as a pin pendant, a charm a pair of earrings or a small pendant. |
