About Our Calico Cat Jewelry

I think my calico cat jewelry is fun, and really striking. It is one of the first hand painted designs I developed for the Magic Zoo and I’m pleased with it! Calico cats are beautiful. There is a long haired and a short haired version. It’s thought that the short haired version came from Spain and is one of the earliest cat breeds. Calicos are not as common as other cat types because it’s hard to reproduce them. Almost all calicos are female. It’s said that a Black or White male makes the best stud for recreating a calico, but there’s no guarantee. Good quality calicos are supposed to have mostly white under parts with red and black patches that are clearly defined and brilliantly colored. Eyes in a show cat calico should be orange or copper colored with hazel eyes sometimes allowed in short haired calicos. In addition, there aren’t supposed to be any tabby markings whatsoever. Our current web designer owns a delicately beautiful, rather long haired calico cat that is so wary of strangers she rarely makes an appearance when there are guests in the house. Ed and I were honored that she visited us, though tentatively, when we were there recently. She even licked Ed’s fingers! According to Sandy, this is not typical behavior for her. We were suitably flattered.
