Pin Pendants–Combination Brooch and Jewelry Pin
I love the idea of pin pendants representing our favorite animals. Besides the fun of choosing how you want to wear them, they also tend to be a little larger and more impressive than your typical pendant. I probably wear mine more as pendants than pins, because I want my pendants to show up! The animals I love are such a part of my life that I’m proud to show off the ones I have special affinity for. Each design has loop on the back for the chain to slide through as well as a pin back. Read more...

Is it a pin? Is it a pendant? It’s a pin & a pendant, a wonderful piece of jewelry that can be worn in two different ways and is known primarily as a pin pendant.
When I started designing in the metal, my caster suggested I create some pins that could also be worn as pendants. It was the first time I’d heard about this item of jewelry, but it was a wonderful suggestion. Now, anytime I create a new design, I make a pin pendant version if I possibly can. The design has to be of a certain size for it to work well.
The pin pendant is created by soldering both a pin and a loop for a chain to slip through onto the back of the design. Only the larger jewelry makes a successful pin / pendant because there has to be room for both items on the back.
It’s almost like having two different pieces of jewelry for the price of one piece. Wear a lovely elephant pin pendant one day around your neck, setting off the perfect neckline with a memorable, bold pendant. No one will know that later in the week or even the next day you can slip the chain out of the loop in the back and pin the piece right onto a jacket or coat!
