I’ve been happily designing unique, handcrafted earrings for fun and profit since 1982. Since that time it’s been my one of my main purposes in life to create jewelry that has special meaning for my customers, and is something they’re proud to wear. Really!
In my current jewelry line I have all kinds of earrings. I design them in my Florida studio, where every one gets the Merry Rosenfield special treatment. Don’t even ask what that is, because I’m not sure myself! All I know is that I would recognize one of my designs anywhere, any place, and I’ll bet most of my customers would too.
About seven years ago I was exhibiting in an art show at Christmas time in Texas. A woman walked by my booth wearing a very familiar piece of jewelry. It was a pig design that I had created in 1982, almost twenty years earlier! (And it certainly wasn’t in Texas!) I guess that was bound to happen eventually. Sometimes when I have nothing better to do I try to imagine how much space all the jewelry I’ve ever made would take up. Would it fill a small bathroom all the way to the ceiling? How about my studio? Would all the jewelry I ever made piled up together come up to the top of my filing cabinets?
These are some of the things I wonder about when I’m not making jewelry.
It’s probably a good idea to get back to work about now and make some more earrings.
