Cockatoos are native to Australia, New Guinea and some of the other Pacific Islands. What marvelous environments these birds originated from! I'd love to see them flying around in their natural habitat. I've talked to people who have been to those areas and were blown away by the beauty and grace of these parrots.
Cockatoos sometimes have a little problem in getting along well with each other. I've heard it said that it's best to get a mated pair if at all possible. The other way to have compatible birds is to start out with young birds that can be housed together so they sort of "grow up' together. Then it's a bit more likely they'll bond. Cockatoos do tend to mate for life, and a bird that's lost its mate may be hard to pair.
It's a good idea to get off on the right foot nutritionally so your bird doesn't just eat sunflower seeds, a problem I read about. If you feed the babies a balanced diet including green foods and fruits like apples, pomegranates and grapes the adult will be naturally eating a better diet.
I offer this sweet gold cockatoo pendant to all my pet bird loving customers!
